The Importance of Driver Education
As a nineteen year old college student who has been driving for three years, the importance of driver education is extremely important. It is a necessary educational tool for students aged sixteen and older until adulthood. It is important to have driver education programs to decrease deaths while driving and improve safety on the roads. I have found myself referring back to what I learned from driver education when I am not sure what to do.
I took a driver education program from a local driving school. It provided me and is expected to provide students with the knowledge and skills to drive safely. It teaches various viewpoints and frame of mind on how to navigate on the road properly and safely.
Some important reasons driver education is needed will be addressed. As I stated, it increases the skills and knowledge of the student. They are all-inclusive. It teaches road rules and the basic fundamentals of how to drive. It also provides students with scenarios of various situations. I feel the skills and knowledge I learned from a professional made me feel more confident. My parents were great at teaching me as well. However, I look back at my focus while driving, and it was better with a stranger teaching me.
Driver education programs also focus on the rules of the road such as traffic laws and other legal requirements. This promotes understanding of road rules and being sure one adheres to them. I learned so much from my program that I almost wish I could retake it now that I understand things better. A refresher would be nice.
Driver education programs also teach techniques on how to anticipate dangerous situations. It is important to know ahead of time on how to deal with certain situations and problems. It is important to always drive by safeguarding oneself and their passengers and how to respond appropriately.
Driver education is also important on how to control a vehicle. It teaches how to control the wheel and how to handle it in certain situations. It teaches how to control the vehicle during various weather conditions and so forth. I think this was the hardest for me to learn. Various weather conditions can be scary. It is hard to know what your car will do in certain situations. My car is different from my mom’s and different from my dad’s. When I drive a different car, I have to cognizantly be aware that each car responds differently.
Driver education programs build one’s confidence while learning to drive. This allows one to make better decisions while driving. It teaches one how to be calm in scary situations. This will help to decrease the possibility of an accident occurring. It helps to reduce accidents by building one’s knowledge and confidence. Being educated and confident are key to reducing accidents. According to reports,
One of the most common things that affect young drivers is a fear of encountering unknown situations. Young people experience panic when faced with unknown situations. They do not know what is happening around them. This is because driving schools are equipped with professionals who know how to deal with panic. The professionals at driving schools can help your child deal with panic by teaching them how to stay calm and cool under any circumstance. They also teach them how to react to unexpected situations that may cause accidents.
I believe the driver education program gave me the confidence I needed to be a better driver. It was definitely beneficial. It focuses on decreasing fear and promoting calm.
Driver education programs are equipped to prepare students on safe driving behaviors. They teach various dangers and distractions. They explain behaviors, such as texting while driving and talking to friends who are in the car with one, and how this can impact driving skills. Programs are to promote awareness and education. They also teach students the dangers of drinking and driving. I have experienced being in the car often when my friends are driving, and they are driving fast. I can admit I am afraid to say something to them to slow down. I do not want them to get mad or make fun of me. I need to get better at telling them to slow down.
It is also important to always wear one’s seat belt. Making it a habit is the best way. Wearing one’s seat belt decreases injuries if there is an accident. Programs are key for emphasizing all key points. I will say that I am very good at wearing my seatbelt, and my friends are too.
Driver education programs are good because they encourage constant learning. They modify their tools and educational material based on the current driving laws and situations. They update based on new technology and information. They are constantly evolving while promoting others to constantly be learning as well.
There are many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths while driving. Driving deaths are a big concern to the public. It is important to follow these steps to decrease deaths.
I think the most important steps include enforcing traffic laws by having better laws that enforce use of seat belts and stricter penalties with speeding. Wearing one’s seat belt is good for decreasing injuries if there is an accident. With stricter penalties for speeding, people will decrease their speed and go the speed limit. I like using my cruise because it helps me to control my speed better.
Some other steps that can be taken to reduce deaths while driving include improving roads, increasing public awareness, improving driver education programs, and improving the safety of vehicles. Involving communities and government can also be a way to positively improve and enhance programs while decreasing deaths on the road.
These techniques and many others help reduce deaths from driving. They are good for making the roads safer to drive on. Most important is for people like me to be confident and smarter when driving.
In conclusion, driver education is the most important part of improving safety and knowledge on how to be a good driver and how to use the strategies when driving. Driver education gives students the knowledge and the skills needed. It promotes good habits and constant learning. I feel driver education plays a vital role in reducing the number of road deaths and making roads safer for everyone. It definitely taught me a lot, and I refer back to the strategies I learned when I have to make a decision when driving.
