Why Learning to Drive Early is Important

When it comes to driving and being behind the wheel, many people don’t understand the importance of knowing what’s right and wrong when on the road and what’s where driver education becomes important. Driver Education is very important in the process of learning how to drive and can result in better techniques and less deaths. With driving being one of the leading causes of death, learning the proper way to drive and be safe is very crucial. And because of the amount of deaths that occur due to lack of education, less and less people want to learn to drive because they are scared of being in an accident. So, some ways we can reduce the amount of deaths because of lack of education behind the wheel are, getting into a driving school. I know that some driving schools are quite expensive and not all families can afford it, however, learning the importance of driving and being on the road is a big part of growing up. Next, another way to reduce deaths is by studying the state book (for your state) and taking the corresponding test. Being tested on your knowledge is one way of reassuring your understanding that you are capable of being on the road. Another way to avoid death while on the road is to observe other drivers while being in the passenger seat. This way, you get some starting knowledge of what to expect when taking your knoweldge tests and getting your license. One last way to prevent death and injuries while on the road is to make sure you have a responsible adult to teach you any other information that you may have missed while learning to drive. It’s important that you know everything that there is to know because you never know what could happen when you are beginning to drive. Those are some of the ways that you can be safe on the road and to properly know how to drive when starting out.

There was a time when I was little (below 10) and I was in the back seat and my dad was driving. Without me knowing, he was going 10-20 over the speed limit. At first I didn’t know what was happening, but then I saw police lights flashing right behind our car, and before I knew it, my dad was getting a speeding ticket. At the time, I didn’t know what a speeding ticket was and thought my dad was going to jail and I started to cry like any kid would in this situation. I later asked my mom who was sitting in the passenger seat what was going on and she told me it was a ticket and my dad had to pay a lot of money for going over the speed limit. After that day, I learned that speeding is not only dangerous for yourself and other drivers on the road, but can cost you money at the very end. For being a new driver as well (i’ve had my license for almost a year) I feel a lot more prepared for the future if somehow this does ever happen to me.

Steps that I will be taking to become a safer driver is to always be looking at what’s ahead of me and be prepared for anything. When making decisions on the road, you have to be able to think fast when something happens that you aren’t used to and make the right decision that will keep you safe. I will also be continuing to learn more and more about driving in general as my life goes and get more and more experience on driving. Lastly, I will continue to listen to any advice that is given to me by someone who has been drinking for a long time and or knows a lot about driving. I feel like someone who has had a lot of good and bad experiences really has the best advice because they have been through the worst (probably not the absolute worst) but have been through a lot of hard times in their life. To maybe help others be safe, I can tell them what to expect when they first start driving and maybe help them with any basic needs. Sometimes, when teaching someone else who is just as new as you and a good thing because you can review for yourself what’s important and go over the basics of driving and overall being safe on the road. Overall, I feel like with the little amount of experience that I do have, I am more capable of being safe on the road and know what’s good and what’s bad.
