Drivers Ed Essay
Drivers’ education is vital in reducing driving-related deaths because it provides the knowledge and skills necessary to drive safely. If people are never taught to drive correctly, they will never seek out the proper way, which is why driver education exists. Through driver education, people learn the rules of the road, safe driving techniques, and situational awareness. Without proper education, drivers are more likely to speed, drive under the influence, and text while driving. However, drivers’ education is not the only step to reducing driving-related deaths. There needs to be stricter traffic law enforcement by police to catch those who might be under the influence or drive carelessly faster, improve infrastructure to clearer signage or road maintenance, and advanced vehicle technology such as automatic braking system for emergencies or warning when veering off. Besides actions for beginners and active drivers there needs to be more public awareness for everyone in general, but it is especially important to instruct kids about driving safely. That is why there must be an early introduction to kids about driving and street safety whether that be through a cartoon teaching them not to run into the street to chase a ball or in class discussions conducted by community members on the dangers. One mistake every presenter makes is always beginning by telling a personal story or example when the very first thing should explain why driving and street safety are important, what that means, and what to do if something still happens. Then, for adults, it is important to have public posters, and some free or low-cost driver education sessions for low-income people depending on what the session is about.
Furthermore, I have been lucky not to be in any car accident, but I have dealt with friends who have driven unsafely, and I have even once driven unsafe while training on how to drive. All the instances of unsafe driving from my friends have been speeding and I don’t know if part of that was everyone was new drivers, teens, or young adults. However, I commonly ride the bus, and I think when talking about driver education cars are the only thought but people can speed on buses or go through red lights even when there is ample time and distance to stop. For myself I accidentally went through a red light because my friend’s dad was telling me to make sure not to stop on yellow and it was red when I had already started driving off from my lane so I kept going so I got unlucky without knowing when the light would change. Each of these actions by my friends or me could have led to an accident potentially causing serious injuries or even death which is why driver’s education is vital for everyone. Writing about the time between doesn’t actually prepare someone for the time between changing lights in real life and I realized it depends so much on the traffic, at least in my area because at least when the traffic is slower so are the lights but when traffic is faster the lights are faster. I can be a better and safer driver by taking more driver education classes and lessons when I have the money and want to because right now, I do not feel ready to take classes again. The most important lesson I have learned about driving is if you do not feel ready do not force yourself to drive so I originally forced myself to learn to drive like everyone, I knew was driving even though I knew I could not afford a car or actual driving lessons. Personally, my steps involve waiting till I have a full-time job, and I feel comfortable enough to then practice driving. For others I can speak up when I notice unsafe behavior particularly if it is my friend’s speeding, I should have said something because it only takes one wrong to cause a devastating accident. When people hear the same phrase over and over again, they take it to heart so I figure I should keep telling my friends it is better safe than sorry when I am able to. Finally, I want to create a more open-mindedness to talk about drivers’ education and mistakes people have made without legal consequences so that my friends and I can all talk about how their driving experiences but learn what they should have done instead and what they can do now without feeling any pressure. One of the biggest issues I believe occurs everyone is no communication which is why the steps I would take for others would be to work on communication with drivers.
