Why is Driving Education Important
. The importance of driving education is to reduce the number of deaths from driving, and it can save a child’s life. It has been studied that many teens have died from a car accident. This is the case for many people who have thrown away their own life just because they were not driving the way that they should have. Most of these teenagers were males. This is why if teens want to get their license, they will have to come through Driver Education classes, so that way they can learn to be safe on the road. Some of the steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths is to have them go through Driving Education classes to teach them the laws/rules of the road, and for teenagers to not have any friends in the car until they are 18. This can help teens to be less distracted while they are driving. Here in Washington state, where I live, you must wait 6 months till you have got your license, and then you are allowed to have up to three people in your car, this does not include immediate family members. I think that the 6 months should apply to family members since those kinds of people can be the most distracting, but the friends can probably wait until they are 18, or if they are 18 when they get a driver’s license, wait for the 6 months.
Another thing that can be done to prevent the number of deaths in a car crash for teens is to have them be taught by someone who is a responsible driver. There are some teens out there who get taught how to drive by a parent who is an irresponsible driver, so either they can be taught by the parent that is responsible, or they could be taught by the driving instructor.
I personally have been very blessed to have never gotten into a car accident in my life, driving or in the passenger’s seat, but there are sometimes where my family members have driven irresponsibly. The first example that I can think of is sometimes, mostly unintentionally, my parents will cut off a car in the other lane to get over to that lane. Another time is that they will sometimes talk on the phone with some of my other family members while they are driving, and not on the car phone that they have. They have gotten so good at that; they don’t even act like they are on their phone while they are driving. Enough about family examples, I want to talk about one example with my friend. We were heading over to our hitting coaches place, and she almost got hit or almost hit three other cars, the first time was when she was trying to get over into the other lane, and the car behind here was going very fast. The next time was when she was trying to take the exit, and she forgot to turn on her blinker and cut another car off. The final time was when we were talking about a totally unrelated topic, and she almost hit a cop while trying to stop at the red light. After that, we just remained silent for the next 5 minutes till we arrived at our hitting coach’s facility. Those are all of the time that either my family, or friend, has driven irresponsibly.
Some steps that I can take, and my family/friends can take, to become a better driver and help others stay safe on the road as well are to put the phone away and focus on the road. For most of my stories, the irresponsible driving has been from the phone. If we would just put the phone away, they would not be driving irresponsibly. Another way that we can all become better drivers is to keep your eyes on the road and not look at your passengers. This is pretty much the same thing as if you were to look at your phone, it is taking your eyes off of the road, which by itself is most likely the most dangerous thing that you can do while driving. As long as you keep your eyes on the road while driving, you will already reduce the risk of dying while driving. So, keep those eyes up, always. And this is why Driving Education classes are very important for teens to take so that way we can reduce the number of deaths due to car accidents.
