Importance of driver education and steps one should take to drive safer

Driver education is significant in reducing the number of deaths caused by driving. Teaching teenagers and adults how to drive safely is key to reducing deaths by driving. People who go through a driver’s ed course or learn from a trusted individual with extensive driving knowledge come out of it being extremely safe drivers following all the precautions needed to drive safely. People who learn driving from non-person teaching or learn from irresponsible drivers usually don’t pay attention to driving laws, causing accidents and, even worse, death. Driving education is extremely important to prevent unsafe driving and prevent deaths caused by dangerous driving.

Many steps can be taken to ensure the reduction of deaths related to driving. One of the first ways is to make it a requirement that all people must take a driver’s ed class to acquire a driver’s license. This would ensure that people getting their license know how to drive safely and are not at risk while behind the wheel of a car. Another step is to reduce the use of a phone in a car. If a person doesn’t have hands-free calling in their car, then they should put the phone away in a bag with notifications silenced. Most deaths by driving incidents are caused by the use of a phone while driving. Having the driver put away their phone and silencing it while driving allows them to focus on driving instead of what the phone has to offer. Hands-free calling has revolutionized driver safety. It allows drivers to focus on what they learned in driver education and not be distracted by their phone. The last step to reducing the number of deaths related to driving is learning how to drive instead of rushing to get your license. Even though there is a time frame a person must follow to get their licence from the time they get their permit, it’s not enough. I’ve taken a considerable amount of time before getting my licence to; learn the ropes of driving and how to drive in different conditions between the time when people head to work and in different weather conditions. This allowed me to become a safe driver and not put me at risk of harm in the driver seat. Increasing the time between a person acquiring their permit and their licence would allow people to learn how to drive safer than the average person.

I have never been in a car accident, but I’ve seen multiple incidents of people driving irresponsibly. Most of the time, I’ve seen friends grab their phone to text someone while driving, and I’ve told them multiple times to leave the phone down till they get to their destination. I’ve taught multiple people how to drive without touching their phones. I’ve also seen people drive irresponsibly and told them they should take a little more time to learn the car they are driving, allowing them to drive their car more safely and not put others’ lives at risk. Even though I’ve never been in a car accident, I try to make sure others are safe while driving. I see it as a goal and a virtue to keep roads safe by teaching others what they need to improve on and how to tackle situations responsibly. It’s always important to take multiple steps when driving. I’ve taken multiple steps to become a safer driver and ensure the roads are safe while I’m driving.

When I drive, I take multiple steps and precautions before starting a drive. There are even more steps I can take to become a safer driver. First is making sure that my phone is either off or silent before starting a drive thus ensuring I won’t get distracted by my phone while driving. Another step that I can take is to make sure I have approval from multiple accounts that I’m responsible for driving and that there’s nothing I need to do to improve my skills. The last main step I can take is to make sure I know the capabilities of my car. Most people don’t understand what their car can do, causing them to misinterpret the distance a car can go when stepping on the gas pedal or even the distance they should leave between them and other vehicles and stops to not cause any accidents due to road conditions. I make sure others aren’t on their phone while driving and also make sure they don’t miss steps that should be taken when driving. As stated before I have it as a personal goal to ensure safer roads when I drive and when others I know drive to reduce accidents on roads.
