Drivers
Education is extremely important in reducing the number of deaths and
car accidents when driving. The rules of the road are set to help
ensure the safety of all who are driving. People who follow the rules
of the road are practicing safe driving and they are also making less
of a risk for others who are driving alongside them. Though many
people practice safe driving, it doesn’t mean that they are in the
clear.
Some
people practice safe driving and some don’t. People who are on the
road and are driving dangerously are risking not only their lives,
but they are risking the lives of others around them. Many people
don’t realize that the slightest mistakes on the road could cost
someone their life. The intentions of the people who drive
dangerously are not bad, but they don’t consider the possibility of
being the cause of a death.
Distractions
in the car are major problems for many people around the world. When
people drive while distracted, catastrophic accidents can occur. Many
people may think, “I just need to glace at that notification.” or
“It will only take a split second to read this message.” But they
don’t realize that it only takes a split second for a horrifying
accident to occur.
My
father was in a dangerously scary accident a few years ago. On a
random day of the week, he was simply traveling on his brand new
motorcycle that he was so excited to have gotten. When making a turn
of a street, a man in the car behind him was distracted by his phone.
Not looking at the road, he hit my father with dangerous speeds for a
human being. My father was left with a shattered knee, a broken
ankle, and scapes along his body. My father hit his head so hard on
the concrete that his helmet broken into pieces. I like to call my
father a lucky man because just a few days before the accident, my
father had an older helmet that wasn’t as sturdy. My mother told my
father that he needed to buy a new helmet that was thicker and
stronger. As soon as he did, his accident happened.
This
accident not only taught me about how precious and fragile life can
be, but it also showed me how horrific things can be avoided if we
all would wait that extra ten minutes to check out phones. Just
imagine the number of lives that could be saved in those ten minutes.
Keeping your eyes on the road and following the rules is the best way
to keep yourself and others around you as safe as possible. If we all
do our parts, the road would be a safer place for our families.
