Stop, Don’t Forget to Look.
Stop, Don’t Forget to Look.
From a young age, we watch our parent’s and family members drive like it is nothing. Flying out of the driveway, rolling through stop signs, speeding on. We never really think anything of it because we are too young to understand the impacts of reckless driving. Taking Driver’s education is so vital to a young driver because it provides the necessary information on how to drive safely with necessary precaution. Stop, don’t forget to look is a saying that reminds us that every-time we are in our vehicle we need to observe our surroundings. Whether it be a nearby cross walk, a set of traffic lights, or the cars surrounding us, it is always important to check our surroundings before proceeding. Doing so, can prevent accidents and save lives. By double and triple checking what is going on around us, we can acknowledge what others are doing and adapt our choices. For instance, if a car in-front of you is swerving, you may break prior to reaching them. It is important to be aware of others, sometimes our actions are not the ones that make the impact on our future. Drivers education teaches us to be cautious of other drivers because sometimes it is the people who are not fully education on drivers education, are not paying attention, and are reckless that cause problems on the road. It is evident that many drivers are unable to focus on the road as they drive while looking at their cell phones. By observing these dangerous actions and learning about their impacts in drivers education it becomes more evident and important to avoid those reckless actions all together. Drivers education most importantly teaches the younger generation how to be successful on the road. Though we can learn techniques from our family members, they may not be the best and most safe. Taking drivers education provides a second viewpoint on how driving should be done. It is a trusted resource to educate students. For example, taking drivers education taught me to always look back and put my hand on the passenger seat as I backed up. This is something my mother did not even know to do until she joined me in a driving lesson. It can be the little things we do that make the most impact. Our parents and older generations were taught to drive differently than us and sometimes do not think before they drive because they are so used to being on the road. It is for sure scary to be on the road at first, but being properly education provides a sense of security. All students should take drivers ed because it genuinely makes a difference! It is so important to be education while on the road for your own safety and the safety of others.
