The importance of Drivers Education
The importance of Drivers Education
What is the importance of driver education in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving?
The importance of drivers ed is to teach and remind drivers to pay attention at all times when behind the wheel, there are many different driving conditions and possibilities to be cautious of when driving. People have lost many lives of family and friends due to various reasons that have caused accidents. Drivers ed is here to teach and prepare you for safe and unsafe scenarios or possibilities to be aware of when behind the wheel of an automobile. It is very critical you follow the instructions given when learning drivers ed. You don’t want to get hurt or hurt anyone else. Never drink and drive, take a taxi cab or call a friend or family member for a ride.
If you take medication that states not to operate heavy machinery under the influence of that specific prescription drug because it may cause drowsiness, I would definitely listen to that advice. You don’t want to fall asleep behind the wheel. You could put yourself and lots of others in danger.
What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
There are a few steps,
1. always insure you have proper safety restraints active (seat belts, air bags)
2. Always use the IPDE process when driving.
3. Never operate any type of machinery while under the influence of alcohol or prescription drugs, if you part take in alcoholic activities, find a sobar friend or family member and have them drive or hold on to your keys.
4. Do the speed limit, take your time not everything is a race. Don’t take on speeds you can’t handle, we all aren’t NASCAR drivers or professional stunt drivers like Ken Block. And im very sure that we all value our lives dearly while on the road.
Have you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?
Yes In 2017 on my 22nd birthday I was in my very first car accident which was caused by a driver following too closely, I ended up sliding into a tree and totaling it. I couldve lost my life. I’ve also avoided accidents by irresponsible drivers. After my first accident it has been kind of like a mission to drive safely, because what if i’m being irresponsible and I hurt or kill someone driving? I have to face big consequences fines and penalties and even jail time.
What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?
Make sure you know to use the IPDE process or defensive driving.
Identify- look both ways at an intersection, look for details of the intersecton(signs, lights, pedestrians, other drivers)
Predict- where they are going, how they drive, how to proceed
Decide- determine whether it is safe or not to proceed, make sure the intersection is clear of cars and pedestrians before proceeding. That goes back into step 1- identifying.
Execute- proceed with caution, be aware of your surroundings. You may be a safe driver but that doesn’t mean that others are as safe as you. I have seen many accidents caused by people who weren’t paying attention.
