Hi, my name is Ne’ Vaeh Woods, I would like to share with you a segment of the values of my education and personal health. I have tamed and suffered horrific events that have occurred in my life. In February 2021 I, myself was involved in a trauma car accident injuring me immensely. Serving me with bodily injuries of back fractures, bimalleolar ankle fracture, neck fractures, post-concussion headaches, fractured forearm, bruising, a black eye, chipped tooth, and inflated body parts. Due to my disability, past and current dysfunctions I have undergone duress, anxiety, uneasiness, and hardship all mentally, physically, and financially. I have had orif procedures, firstly having external fixtures being placed to hold the bone in place. The second medical procedure being the utmost vital surgery. Presently, having plates and screws center my foot, and or ankle to cure several bones aiding me with the hope to soon conduct daily activities starting with therapy.
Previously, I was not knowledgeable of the sincerity of all my injuries. I had no idea the contrary of me not being able to walk and or stand for several months, not being able to shower for several months, not being able to academically finish off my spring semester astonishingly and being on a daze due to unreasonable levels of pain and high-risk medication. According to verywellmind.com “Motor Vehicle Accidents are the leading cause of post-traumatic stress disorder in the general population. Each year, there are an estimated six million Motor vehicle Accidents in the United States, resulting in over 2.5 million injuries.” What I have learned from my trauma and experiences are that nothing is impossible, and to yield patiently with recuperation. I did not and will not give up on myself, even when I receive the concept several times for several reasons due to my life making a turn.
Do my mishap of injuries I am now more paranoid and stress how texting and driving can be deadly situations on not only the driver’s part but the other peers or drivers as well. Today’s college teens, high school students, and overall todays now is surrounded by technology which plays a big part in severe car accidents and mishaps. The usage of technology has become such a necessity, the issue has been arising due to the simple distractions it causes. Just picking up a phone or replying to one’s text message can end someone’s life or possibly the driver’s life instantly. Some of the best practices I suggest to others and myself daily, are simply putting your electronic devices out of reach. The glove box, backseat, trunk, or under the seat can be your best friend while driving.
Self-control is oneself, emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations. Be a good person involves self-control. Being a good person does not involve being overly irresponsible with a motor vehicle risking others lives due to the lack of care ore remorse a person can have for others. Harming someone should always come to mind and being the better disciplined person should always make oneself feel great inside spiritually you are saving yourself from trauma and your fellow peers on the road trauma as well.
The best advice I always can give now experiencing trauma and being the other person on the not faulted side of irresponsible driving is to think of others. Remember you have family members who depend on you and care for and about you and your wellbeing. Then you should also think about the person you are putting in danger by picking up small distractions such as your cellphone, your apple watch, your laptop, your tablet, and or apple iPad, etc. The distractions can start when your well placed in a safe environment. We all have one life to live and living it in fear can be the scariest thing to overcome.
In conclusion, I am overly amazed with my grasp to maintain. although, my education has and or is being affected due to someone driving imperfectly and being inattentive in the lane causing a head-on collision. I since then have realized unpleasant acts happen to good people, and that I am capable of handling them, therefore it was presented to me because I am determined and strong-minded. This now makes me an enhanced student, and person. I get up every day trying to do better, willing to elevate in my education, my everyday life, and ultimately my way of thinking I can now be more relatable to all-around students and peers with long-term disabilities. I am grateful for every moment of my past and current recovery and survival.
