Driver education, the way to save lives

 

Driver education, the type of education that allows everyday people to save lives, right? Yes, driver education is something that almost everyone has to go through to drive a car, with the majority of the population owning a car, driver education is one of the best forms of education that everyday people can get to help save not just their own lives, but also their community and those around them. Driving education is so important to reducing the number of deaths caused by driving, because of its ability to educate the next generation of drivers how to drive safely and bring to drivers’ important information that will stick in their heads. 

 

Looking back at my experience of driver education, the class wasn’t mostly about how to drive but mostly how to drive safely. From the rules of the road to what distraction looks like when it comes to phones and how dangerous phones are during driving. This major focus on driving distraction and safe driving ensures that the ideas of safe driving with no distraction were in the heads of everyone who has been through driver ed. This focus on distracted driving during the class largely focuses on things like eating and driving, texting and driving, talking on your phone and driving, and many different actions that many take every day that can lead to distraction. This message I think has stuck in a lot of my friend’s and I’s head. Where to today I don’t use my phone when I’m driving, and I also encourage those around me not to. This idea of not using your phone and driving has also stuck into many of my friends’ heads, and most of them also will not use their phones when driving. Seeing the effect that driver ed has brought not just to me but those around me, shows how being educated about dangerous driving action can help reduce the amount of dangerous action that occurs. Continuing this focus on safe and distraction-free driving can help to reduce the amount of death caused by cars. 

 

Another way that driver education is important in reducing the number of accidents and deaths is the ability to get information to drivers. When many thinks of driver education many might think that it only happens in a driver education class, or the driver handbook, but other forms of driver education are everywhere. From safe driving commercials on the television, radio, billboards, to roadside signs about safe driving. Driver education is always surrounding us. This education surrounding us brings light to the most dangerous actions that are taken by drivers, that can result in injury or death. Seeing this dangerous action being talked about either by reading, watching, or listening about safe driving can cause many to think about the action that they take when driving. These safe driver education campaigns are also important in pointing out dangerous behavior and what these actions look like. When driving, many don’t think about the many simple actions that they take on an everyday basis like eating and driving, talking on the phone, or driving over the speed limit. Become an everyday action that many don’t think about, so when the driver education campaign brings up these actions it can help bring attention to the driver. For example, if someone is used to eating their breakfast on their committee every day to work and doesn’t realize that eating and driving is dangerous. This behavior can become common, causing the drive to continue this behavior. Having driver education videos either on tv, on the internet, or over the radio can help make them question their actions and change their behavior. This would create a safer driving environment, helping to decrease accidents and death on the road. When there is a more and more safe driving education campaign that mainly targets the most common, or dangerous behavior on the road. More drivers will become aware of these actions allowing the driver to not take these dangerous actions, or so that they can encourage those around them to do the same. The ability to bring to action dangerous driving is the most important way that driver education and driving campaigns are so important in reducing the number of car deaths and accidents. If we continue to push for safe driving education not just for the next generation of drivers by including safe driving education in class but keep the television, radio, and social media campaign of safe driving. It helps decrease the number of accidents and driving-related deaths.
