The
Importance of Being an Educated Driver
Prior
to taking drivers ed, most aspiring drivers aren’t aware of
the rules of the road, or at least the important ones that many
people tend to forget about. However, taking a course like drivers
education it increases the ability of that driver’s percentage of
being safe on the road. Engaging in a course like drivers ed
also increases the percentage of safe drivers on the road, this will
decrease the amount of injuries, deaths, and accidents on the road to
therefore make the road a lot safer and more efficient. The longest a
driver’s license can last before it can be renewed is ten years,
however the rules of that at the moment is if the driver doesn’t
renew their license in two years they have to retake the driver’s
test to gain another license. To continue that point, putting an
extreme restriction on driver license renewal, I believe that making
people that want to renew their license at least take a written
portion of the driver’s test could help reduce the amount of deaths
and accidents because that will in itself help the road’s be safer
because the driver will have a refresher on the rules of the road.
Also, if a driver has too many tickets, requiring them to take a
driver’s course no matter the age will also help reduce the amount
of deaths an accidents on the road. Personally, I have fortunately
been a part of a car accident where, someone was intoxicated of any
kind. However, I live in a town where our main way of getting around
town is a very dangerous highway, this has made me open my eyes to
how dangerous the road actually can be especially if someone is
intoxicated. I remember, my freshman year this elementary school kid,
and his mom were driving from my town to our neighboring town, when
they got into a horrible accident and both died, someone wasn’t
paying attention and pulled out in to the median and t-boned them and
allowed them to spiral and caused their car to turn over, crushing
the little boy and his mom inside. Fortunately, the population of my
town gathered together in tragedy to celebrate the little boy’s
life, by wearing blue ribbons around their backpacks, ankles, and
wrists. Recently my city has enforced a new restraint on the highway
because of these accidents, however we can as a whole do better, as
individual drivers do better.
