Death is possible if you don’t drive responsible

According to www.nsc.org,
in the year of 2018, an estimated 40,000 perished due to car
accidents and about 4.5 million injuries happened to car crash
victims. This number has only went up in recent years. The importance
of drivers ed could potentially help save lives in the near
future. By educating people on the seriousness of driving carefully
we could lower the death rate just by 10% alone. Drivers ed can
serve a bigger purpose in saving peoples lives.

Many steps can be taken in order to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. The first step we can take is practicing
defensive driving techniques like buckling up, checking mirrors, and
making sure we have our full focus on the road. The second step we
can take is making sure we aren’t drowsy or intoxicated before
getting behind the wheel. If the driver is intoxicated we can call a
taxi service or assign a designated driver. The third step we can
take is turning all distractions on silent or off. There are actually
systems on most phones now that, when activated, can detect when one
is driving and automatically turns on do not disturb mode, this
disables any alarms or texts to go off while the car is in motion. If
we take these steps we can surely lower the death rate of many
injured and death victims of car crashes.

I have experienced a car crash first hand and it was very scary. My
mother and I were coming back from a school activity and she took her
eyes off the road for a second to look at a house for sale. We veered
off to the left side of the road and collided with another car. The
crash sent us spinning into another person’s yard and luckily we
were both okay.

The steps I can take to becoming a better driver is remembering to
buckle up and staying attentive to the road as well as being aware of
what others around me are doing. I can teach others to be safe on the
road by showing them the steps I mentioned earlier and reminding them
of the importance of taking these steps and putting them into action.
Together we can limit deaths and injuries resulted from car crashes
if we follow the steps mentioned. Just remember death is possible if
you don’t drive responsible!
