Safe Driving Stems From Education

Being
a safe driver begins with being educated. I think taking a test in
order to get your permit is extremely important. When people pass
their permit test, it means they have taken the time to study and
prepare. Driving means something to everyone and taking the permit
test allows people this opportunity. When drivers are educated, they
become aware of laws and rules while driving. This allows everyone to
remain safe and results in less deaths. If there is even just one,
uneducated driver, it can result in multiple deaths. Becoming
educated in driving is the number one solution to safe driving, which
can save lives.

In order to keep
everyone educated, people need to continue to stay up-to-date on
laws. As drivers age, they should be required to take written or oral
tests. This will ensure safety in knowledge. As drivers get older and
become more experienced, they assume they know everything. This is
very untrue and adults, along with teenagers, still have a lot to
learn when it comes to driving. It is common knowledge that people
will forget some of the rules while driving, but this shouldn’t
result in deaths.

I have been in
multiple situations with friends in which I have not felt safe
driving because of their speed or because they are distracted. It
makes me extremely concerned because I know how easy it is to hurt
someone while driving. It can come from one small mistake that leads
to death. I have also experienced many high schoolers driving while
intoxicated. I have not witnessed these events directly, but I know
that it is a common practice following a party or a get together at a
friends’ house. This practice is absolutely not okay and should be
stopped immediately. Most of the time, they think that this is not
that big of a deal, but education, would prove to them how important
this really is.

There are
definitely times when I become distracted and though I have not
gotten in an accident yet, there is always the possibility. I need to
become better at being aware of these situations and correcting
myself. I think when I drive with others, I need to be honest and let
them know I don’t feel safe. This will encourage them to remain
safe and focused on what they are doing. I also think creating
education courses for high schoolers on drunk driving would be an
important step to putting safety first. Safe driving stems from
education and can only be improved through lessons and teachings.
