Driving.
This is one of the words I have the largest amount of mixed feelings
for. I find driving to be something that the brave do; those people
with the ability to face their fears, to face the dangers of being
out on the road, but also one that most of us do anyway no matter how
we feel about it. Despite the dangers of driving it is very necessary
in our modern world and there are ways that we can improve the safety
of the roads for ourselves and others. Drivers ed is one of
the implemented measures that seeks to make everyone more aware of
those exact dangers that should be most feared. I will always
remember my drivers ed as a fun and informative class from
the lively stories my teacher told, and the colorful PowerPoints
presented throughout each of the classes. The videos we were shown
are some I will never forget- stories of peoples’ biggest regrets
in life because of their inattention and lapses in focus during a few
terrifying seconds of their lives. The class made me even more award
of exactly what can go wrong, and how I need to be constantly aware
when driving. To reduce the number of casualties from driving we can
all work harder to focus our attention on the road and minimize
distractions such as other people in our vehicles taking away our
attention and refrain from using our phones, playing with the car
radio, etc. So far I have been lucky enough to have always been with
careful drivers and not been put in any unsafe situation; however if
I see a distracted driver I try to remind them of the repercussions
of their actions. New drivers and drivers that are inexperienced are
most at risk for making errors that could lead to lifelong results
for themselves and others that are negative. When driving I will
always try to remain focused and calm in order to make the right
decisions on the road. When I am with others I will remind them to
not become distracted and not be overly confident bur remain
cautious for the safety of everyone.
