Drivers ed
is necessary for all learning drivers to learn how to follow traffic
laws and drive safely. Adequate drivers ed should include
how it’s dangerous to break any of the driving laws. For example,
If a driver were to exceed the speed limit, they will have less
reaction time or may have too much speed and not be able to maneuver
safely to avoid a crash. I have experienced numerous times when a
driver was driving by me at a speed well above the speed limit.
Either they are reckless or they are not aware of the true danger of
exceeding the speed limit. All learning drivers should be given
examples of crashes caused by traffic violations. Many traffic
accidents caused by speeding lead to serious injuries or death. All
drivers should be required to sign a paper stating they will never
exceed the speed limit

Also, when my Dad
drove me in his car he used to ignore stop signs in the neighborhood,
which has the potential to cause a crash. Stop signs and other
traffic signs are there to guide traffic to make it more predictable
and give drivers caution. All learning drivers should promise to keep
their eyes on the road searching for traffic lights or traffic signs.

Another common cause
of traffic accidents is drunk driving. Some teenagers and adults
choose to attend parties in which they drink alcohol. They should be
taught to never drive after having an alcoholic beverage of any type
or quantity. They must be taught to have a backup sober driver ready
ahead of time. It should be emphasized that if they do, they are
risking their own lives and the lives of others even if they don’t
think so. There are no excuses, no exceptions, to ever let you drive
a car when drunk. If all of these points are emphasized rigorously in
driver’s Education, then the number of drunk driving accidents
would decrease.

Distracted driving
is the leading cause of traffic accidents. Driving distractions
include cell phone usage by calling or texting. One second your
attention is off the road and you may make a driving mistake or miss
a hazardous driving situation. Young adults should help spread the
message by telling their peers to put their phone on silent mode when
they’re driving. We should all help to spread the message on social
media to never drive distracted, drive drunk, or exceed the speed
limit, or violate any other traffic laws.
