Drive
Safely

I
have been driving on my own since August of 2018. My parents always
preached to me that being behind a motor vehicle is nothing to play
with. For one it was always a privilege to drive a vehicle while in
high school and also that if your going to drive a vehicle like that
you should always be safe before you drive off. Drivers ed is
needed for pre-teens, teens, adults, and almost any age. Learning the
rules of the road can not only help reduce death totals but accidents
in general can have a tremendous impact and can be avoided by just
knowing the basic rules of the road. Anything to avoid injury to each
an every injury should be the main goal of any driver that’s
operating a vehicle on the road.

I myself have never been in an accident but my brother, mom, and dad
have all told me stories about accidents that they have experienced
themselves. The other driver being in the wrong for their
irresponsible driving was the case for most of the stories, but
sometimes my family was in the wrong to. Whether it wasn’t paying
attention more to road from being distracted by their phone or even
dozing off at the wheel because they thought they could drive on a
little bit longer, simple education on road safety is the key to
saving a life from injury at the wheel.

A new book comes out every year by the Department of Driving Services
for young drivers learn the rules of the road so they can become
eligible to take their drivers test. I think that if the Department
could become more aware of these actions in their local community and
try to get a book sent to every doorstep that would be helpful to
everyone. I’ve recently graduated from high school and plan to
attend college in the fall but, I can get the word out to a few of my
younger classmates who are still in high school to try and start a
club for young drivers. Not only for them to become more aware about
the rules but, give them certain situations to help protect them on
the road. Even having a mandatory test that the students have to take
before their actual test with the Department of Driving Services
would be amazing. Having the Department of Driving Services team up
with Board of Education to crack down on these traumatic injuries and
deaths would be the best step forward to help fix our problem. These
baby steps to driver safety could have the best impact on our society
and the safety of each every person apart of this great country.
