Driving
Safe 101

Drivers
education helps incoming drivers learn the importance of being behind
the wheel. It teaches new drivers to read road signals and read other
drivers. This allows them to process that driving is not a game or
something to be taking lightly. My own drive instructor told me
repeatedly that being behind the wheel is a privilege and it can
cause many deaths if not taught properly.

There
are many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths on
the road. One of the firsts is being aware that many accidents are
caused by cell phones in the car. Cell phone use in cars needs to
become illegal or even cars designed so cell phones can not be in use
when the vehicle is on. Another factor is drivers being too
aggressive while driving. It needs to be emphasized that road rage
and aggression can cause moments of irrationality which can lead to
fatalities.

I
have been in a car accident, but it was not bad enough to have any
injuries. I had a friend who drove after drinking alcohol, luckily no
one was injured. The next day a friend of mine and I confronted her
and told her the next time she did anything like that we would call
the police because it is irresponsible and plain stupid. Any of my
friends or family who drive under any influence I will confront and
tell them the truth even if it is hard.

In
order to help myself become a safer driver on the road I put my cell
phone in the middle console of the car. If I plan on playing music
from my phone, I put it on before I start driving to my destination.
I keep my friends and family, to the best of my ability, from driving
under any influence. To further help others drive safe I tell people
not to drive under the influence and if they are going to drink or
party I make sure they stay the night where they are.
