Safe
Driving

Being
a safe driver is very important. Every year, many people die as a
result of unsafe driving. Noticing and correcting when others drive
irresponsibly and trying to be as safe of a driver as possible are
things that you can do to reduce this number of deaths.

Driver
education is important in reducing driving related deaths. This is
because drivers ed teaches people how to drive safely. For
example, in driving school, students are taught the rules of the
road. If students do not know these rules, they will not pass their
drivers license exam. Without drivers ed, people would not know
how to drive safely and more accidents would happen.

There
are more steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving. For example, never driving under the influence or
to never be a passenger in a car that is being driven by someone who
is under the influence. If someone is not sober, their coordination
is impaired. If their coordination is impaired, they are very likely
to get into a car crash. Not only can driving under the influence
harm the driver and passengers in the car, but it can also harm other
drivers on the road.

I
have seen one of my family members drive irresponsibly by talking on
the phone while driving. This is a form of distracted driving.
Distracted driving is dangerous and can cause an accident. One way to
solve this problem is to ask the driver of the car that you are in to
not talk on the phone while driving. If someone calls the driver,
instead of them picking up the phone while driving, they can call the
person back once they get out of the car.

There
are more steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver and to
help others be safer on the road. For example, I can always wear a
seat belt and tell the passengers in my car to wear a seat belt. Seat
belts can save lives. Another thing I can do is follow the rules of
the road by always stopping at stop signs and using turn signals when
needed. If the driver of a car that you are in does not stop at a
stop sign or use turn signals, you can remind them to do so.

There
are many steps that can be taken to reduce the amount of car
accidents that happen every year. Some of these steps are good driver
education, not driving under the influence, not talking on the phone
while driving, and wearing a seat belt. If people make an effort to
follow these steps and educated themselves about safe driving, roads
could be safer.
