It was only a
second

“It was only
a second!”, that is what we tell ourselves when we go on our
phones when we drive. The distractions when we drive are so minimal
and simple at least they are when we aren’t behind the wheel. It
could be something such as a ding from an email, text message,
wanting to change the radio and the song on our phone. That second
can transcend into a lifetime of regret and loss. When we agree to
responsibility of driving we aren’t only responsible for ourselves or
the trusting people in the back seat, but the dad wanting to make it
to his child’s t-ball game, the mom taking her children to work with
her, the grandparents heading to the store to pick out the perfect
card for their grandchild birthday. In order to reduce the death rate
related to driving I believe every year along with renewing the for
tag for your vehicle there should be an impact class and video on the
safety of driving, that talks the common reasons to crashes. It Is
important to reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents
because the intended use for cars is to make life easier for people
allow you the freedom to drive anywhere on your schedule. We the
people who take that responsibility need to protect the roads. In my
life I have seen people be distracted while on the road. Almost every
time that I am with my parents in the car they check their phones at
least three times. They always get at least three reminders to stay
off their phones when they are driving. I believe between social
media and amount of technology we have in 2019. All phones should
have a temporary shutdown setting when it can sense that you are
driving. Also they should be preset to send “ Hi am driving, and I
love you so I will get back to you when I am parked. “ All It takes
is impacting drivers and educating them on how one split second
change a lifetime.
