For
teenagers, one of the many important things for them in their
soon-coming adulthood is learning how to drive. What teenagers don’t
know is with driving privileges comes a great responsibility. Driving
without safety is driving in your own casket; therefore, making
drivers ed crucial to their safety and the safety of others
around them. Having a good education on driving and what to do behind
the wheel can save many lives, although not everyone cares to follow
the rules that come with the benefit of driving.

In
today’s modern world, there are more distractions behind the wheel
than ever before. Distracted driving deaths account for over 25% of
deaths in car accidents. There have been countless fatalities behind
the wheel due to texting, music, taking selfies or videos on
snapchat, and even something as simple as conversations with friends.
There are many steps that can be taken to prevent deaths, like
thoroughly getting the safety driving information to teenagers and
making sure they know the causes of unsafe driving and how terribly a
teenager’s death in a car can affect their family, friends around
them, and the others on the road affected by the collision. A driving
education class should be required by law in order to get a permit,
and every school should provide the class. These steps can get people
better educated and reduce the number of deaths a year.

My
family is extremely safe while driving, and I myself never get in a
car with a bad driver or someone I do not trust behind the wheel.
Though, I have witnessed many families torn apart by the death of
their child due to a car collision; these situations never end well
for any family. A Junior in my high school got in the car with a
drunk driver. While turning at a corner, the car flipped. The
innocent girl died, and some other passengers were either severely
injured or killed. One of the passengers that lived was the driver,
and she will have to live with the memory of killing those teenagers
and have a life behind bars due to not following simple driving
rules. I have seen accidents before, and I can say that a minor
mistake can decide between life and death. More teenagers should be
informed about these dangers to prevent auto-accidents and make our
roads safer.

To
be a great driver, I do what my father told me once when I was
learning to drive for the first time. “Drive like everyone is out
to get you.” It is very good advice. Driving focused on all the
cars around you helps you make safe moves on the road, keeping you
and others around you secure, and so does taking the right turns,
stopping when needed, using your blinkers, paying attention traffic
lights, and most importantly, wearing your seatbelt while driving
sober and awake, no distractions. I think it’s crucial to know all
driving rules to keep myself, and others on the road safe
