In
order to ensure that new drivers become as safe as they possibly can,
it is important that they become enrolled in a drivers ed
program to learn about the basics of driving and to provide insight
on what to do to be as safe as one can possibly be. Drivers ed
can be beneficial in reducing the number of teen deaths because
drivers ed can provide the proper educational instruction to
teach and encourage teenagers about the dangers of driving and to
avoid those dangers that can result in deaths, such as driving under
the influence of alcohol, driving while intoxicated, and using a
cellphone while driving. Overall, drivers ed will help one be a
very safe driver by making sure each drivers ed can take full
responsibility of themselves, other passengers in their car, and
others on the road (who may actually be making mistakes themselves).
Steps that have been taken to reduce the amount of deaths related to
driving were passing laws regarding drunk driving, and texting while
driving. But, these laws need to be better enforced since these laws
are still constantly broken and can cause accidents. Personally, I
have been involved in a car accident, but it was very minor due to
the fact that the other driver sideswiped my car since he was driving
in the improper lane of traffic. This other driver was simply not
paying attention, and was driving irresponsibly since he was given a
clear warning that he was in the improper lane of traffic. He then
decided that it would be beneficial to take this message and
retaliate against my vehicle by making an attempt to side swiping it.
Instead, he should have just corrected his mistake by moving back
into the proper lane of traffic when he had an opportunity to do so.
This scenario goes to show that driving is a big responsibility and
that you must make others be safe on the road as well, and to rather
not try to harm others on the road. In order to become a better
driver myself, I can ensure that I not engage in reckless driving,
road rage, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while
intoxicated, and not using a mobile device.
