Learn
to Make Our Streets Safer
The
rules of the road aren’t that simple. There are always little
things that you must take in consideration when you are driving. For
one, always be looking at your mirroring in order to scan your
surroundings. If you are always looking at all directions, then you
can maybe catch something unusual and react before it much too late.
Being able to properly make your turns and lane changes are also very
crucial since I always see people changing lanes without turning
their shoulder or turning left/right but not staying in the proper
lane during the turn. Things like this can put you and the people
behind you at risk since people can’t read your mind and
potentially create an impact with you due to your lack signaling.
Another major lesson to learn before driving is knowing someone’s
blind spots, especially when it comes to trailer trucks. These trucks
have bigger blind spots than other cars and you need to position
yourself somewhere that your vehicle is visible. These are lesson I
only learned by going to driving school.
Some
steps that could be taken to reduce the number of deaths would be
take make all people take at least one type of driving courses no
matter their age or background. If this happens then more people will
become aware of the actual rules of the road and then maybe these
drivers that are wreck less or unorthodox change their manners.
Another way is to improve the scanning of your surroundings when
inside a vehicle. Sometimes when looking at mirrors, something might
occur within a split second and that can be very dangerous. There
should be some devices implanted that aid you with your awareness.
I
have a family member that told me that he was out with some friends
and then they decided to drink. He then decided to go home and not
even care that he was intoxicated. He mentioned that he was going
well over the speed limit and that he was in the highway. He then had
to make a sharp turn and was able to do it and lost control of the
car, causing it to so multiple rolls. He mentioned that they called
the ambulance and then the cops. They observed that he was indeed
drunk, and he was given a DUI. This cost him thousands of dollars
from his pocket with the classes, license renewal and tickets. He
also had long-term injuries that still bother him today. He mentioned
that he will always regret the day he decided to drink and drive.
Spreading
aware of the actual rules of the road and persuading people to take
driving courses can make us much better drivers. Getting the proper
lessons and practice will prepare us for when we become full-time
drivers. Another important thing to always take into consideration is
that there will always be danger in driving, no matter the conditions
in which you’re in.
