Behind the Wheel
Today the youth of
America play too many games while driving a vehicle. Vehicles are one
of the most dangerous items young adults can get their hands on, and
instead of taking care of themselves, you can find reckless driving
coming from young adults the most. Reckless driving doesn’t only
put one person’s life in jeopardy, but countless others on the
road, let alone all the people who just lost a loved one.
First and foremost, teaching adequate driving education the most
important thing we can do to prevent the number of deaths as a result
of driving. Once we can start teaching more people the importance of
safe driving, and showing the facts, we can start lowering the number
of deaths, but as long as people don’t notice what is actually
happening, no one is going to pay attention or care about the
subject. Simple things that can save a life is putting down the phone
when driving, and if you plan to use your phone, pull over to the
side or let a passenger do whatever you needed to do. Make sure to
keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, the
best thing to do in ideal situations is to keep two seconds away from
the car ahead of yourself. I have personally been in a car accident
because of others not paying attention to the road, and I was very
lucky that none were very dangerous. A car decided to merge when we
were beside it, and they didn’t decide to look to make sure,
slamming their car right into ours. I’ve also been in a fender
bender, which was also a hit and run because the guy was drinking and
driving, which is one of the worst things to do before getting behind
the wheel. The best thing to do if you find yourself in a situation
involving unsafe driving is to simply show the facts about how
dangerous it is and tell them how it would affect them if they
continue to be a reckless driver. If your driver wants to use their
phone while driving, ask to do whatever they needed to do, and if you
can’t do it for any reason, they shouldn’t be using their phone
while driving.
