Need for Speeding

Drivers ed
is a crucial part of the driving process. It allows uneducated
drivers to become accustomed to the rules of the road and learn how
to operate a vehicle responsibly. Drivers ed also explains and
shows the implications of driving habits. Drivers ed covers
topics such as intoxicated driving, speeding, and texting while
driving. These are all topics that many young drivers may need to
learn about to stay safe while operating a vehicle. When learning
about the specific risks of careless driving habits, a person might
be less tempted to try these behaviors. This is why educating
driver’s is so important.
To reduce the number
of deaths related to driving, drivers need to make sure that they are
wearing seatbelts. When wearing a seatbelt in a crash, the rate of
fatality drops by forty-five percent. Drivers can become encouraged
to wear their seatbelts through drivers ed and stricter
enforcement on seatbelt usage. Another way to reduce driving deaths
is to make sure that drivers are not distracted by phones. Texting
while driving has been shown to be nearly six times as deadly as
driving under the influence. It should be mandatory in all phones to
block texts and notifications when driving a vehicle. This would help
people to resist the urge to check their phones while on the road.
I have never been in
a car accident before, but I know of friends and family who have been
in terrible accidents. Even ones that have led to severe injury and
death. The worst thing about car accidents is how easily most of them
can be avoided. Seconds on the road can be the difference between
life and death. This makes it imperative to pay attention to your
surroundings. Just a few weeks ago, one of my friends was involved in
an incident that resulted in someone losing their life. An instant
changed their entire future, and everyone else involved. Sometimes
certain situations only affect you when they hit close to home. This
one, in particular, did, and it changed my perspective on safe
driving.
In order to become a
better and safer driver, I can pay more attention to signs,
especially ones that concern speed. I can also make sure that I am a
safer driver by limiting my phone usage while driving. To help others
on the road, I can lead by example in the way that I drive. When I
have other passengers in the car, I can show them proper driving
etiquette so that when they drive, they will also be safe. Doing this
will help to break bad habits that can be passed down when driving,
like driving without a seatbelt, driving while eating, or driving
with the radio blasting as loud as it can. Tips like these will
overall improve driving safety for myself and for the people that
ride with me.
