It
Is Not Just You

My
parents became adults at a time where owning and driving a car was a
luxury. Overtime, it became a necessity. Destinations to be reached
grew further apart with other developments. Lives became lively and
busy. Freeways and streets hum with engines roaring. Unfortunately,
this has also led to many car accidents with great number of deaths.

I
myself have been placed under a dangerous situation and I am glad it
did not reach a further level. One day my friend was too emotionally
unstable to drive us back home, but there seemed to be no other way
to get home because I was not ready to drive yet. Blinded by his
anger, my friend accepted the taunt from another car to race. He
followed quickly until he spotted a police car and slowed down
quickly. I had kept telling my friend to stop, but he was not
listening to me. I was pretty glad the cop went after us and stopped
us. This event made me scared of getting behind the wheel.

All
drivers should receive proper education to drive prudently and
safely. If all drivers would follow the rules, people would be able
to trust in the system. Having a complete understanding of what can
occur on the road and how to prevent it which will decrease the risks
of dangerous accidents. The best step you can take to become a better
and safer driver as well as help others be safer is to spread the
mentality that you are not the only one. The sole driver of this one
car does not own the road. Drivers tend to focus on where THEY need
to go and how FAST they have to get there. This leads to continuous
causes of speeding, failure to activate turn signals, the inability
to stop before causing an accident, and negligence to scan for
approaching cars. People also tend to discard the fact that even the
best drivers or those who claim the ability to multitask can suffer
any type of car accident. Since many drivers believe themselves to be
invincible, they turn to recklessness. People should trust on the
foundation of our every existence which is that we are all humans,
and we are all flawed. So in that manner, they will be able to take
steps to prevent accidents and increasing death tolls.
