Drive
Safely Not Only for Yourself, but for Others

Each
year, about 34,000 deaths are resulted from a car accident alone.
Many drivers, new or experienced, do not realize the risks of
driving. Driving comes along with multiple responsibilities to be
safe, from keeping your eyes on the road, to not speeding, and more.
It is important for each driver to understand the precautions that
need to be taken while on the road. Drivers ed helps show
people the consequences of reckless or irresponsible driving. Each
person that is or is going to drive, should thoroughly understand the
fundamentals of driving to keep themselves and others safe.

The
more educated drivers become, the less deaths from car accidents are
likely to occur. Some steps drivers can take to become a more safe
and cautious driver are knowing the rules of the road, staying off
the phone and driving responsibly, and knowing the risks. Knowing the
rules of driving is an obvious step that will ensure the driver knows
simple rules like when to yield, understanding the blind spot,
obeying the speed limit, and various other safety rules. Staying off
the phone is another super important step needs to be stressed to
everyone. Since phones used so often, more people are now likely to
text and drive, which leads to more accidents. When driving, the
phone just needs to be put away and not looked, because it is never
worth the risk of getting into an accident. Lastly, knowing the risks
makes drivers more aware of what they are taking on while on the
road. All together these steps, can help people drive more safely and
responsibly.

Being
in a car accident can be traumatizing. I have been in a car accident
before, and it is a scary memory that always sticks with me. I was in
a car with my friend and her mother, and a drunk driver drove into
the front of the vehicle. Luckily no one was seriously injured, but
it could have been more severe. After that accident it stuck in my
head that when someone is driving irresponsibly, they are not only
risking their lives, but other peoples’ as well. Along with being
in a car accident, I have witnessed friends driving while people on
their phones, speeding, or other types of recklessness. I always tell
them to either put the phone down or to be more careful. No one
should be afraid to speak up to save themselves from an accident.
This a crucial step any person can take to help others be more safe
on the road.
