Asleep I woke up to my grandmas words ” Now don’t freak out but,
your dad got into a bad car accident last night and its on the news.”
When I first heard that I was in disbelief second my heart sank and
third I began to panic. I could also see in my grandmas eyes she was
worried too but, was trying to put on a brave face like she always
does. We all got to the hospital and my dad turned out to be okay
but, had visible injuries that he would have to get surgery to fix.
Seeing him like that I couldn’t keep myself together anymore and I
started to cry until I couldn’t anymore. Although this incident
turned out okay, I still couldn’t help but think if the other driver
had another drink or two and was even more reckless how would things
have gone.

The importance of drivers ed in reducing the
number deaths as a result of driving is immense. Many teens often
don’t get proper driving education and are expected to drive like a
professional at such a young age. To fix this issue I believe driving
schools should be offered free of charge and it should be a
requirement to take a class before a license is obtained; no ones
life should come at a price. Also to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving A harsher rule for drinking and driving should be
implemented, no matter the age of the individual.

Unfortunately,
I have had an experience of being in car accident and Ive also
witness reckless driving. Last summer my sisters boyfriend was
driving us home and as he was about to make a left turn a car coming
down the road over the speed limit crashed into us totaling their
car. Although it was a minor accident and none of us were severely
injured, my little 7 year old sister was very scared and that made me
upset.

To be a better and safer driver as well as help
others become safer on the road I will make sure I stay alert, follow
the rules and always encourage others to do the same.
