I’ve
been volunteering since 2011 when I moved up to Wisconsin. For 5
years, my Dad and I volunteered at a food drive for my church pantry.
There we organize loose food for easy storing when churches or
organizations receive these bags. By the end of the day, the crew has
filled on average around 5 huge palettes full of food. I also help
organize the church pantry with the youth group and congregation. For
three years I helped volunteer at a local restaurant called Cup O’
Joy which paired with my church and another neighboring church. Each
year during the summer we help set up tents and food stations for the
homeless and suffering family to come and eat for free. During my
Senior year of high school, I was able to volunteer at many parks
through my school club, FFA. We went to Barkhausen multiple times to
pull invasive weeds, clear out paths and pick up trash. With being in
touch with my artistic abilities I was also able to donate 12 chairs
that I turned into flower pots for the greenhouse to use and sell.
Through one of my core classes assignments, I was able to supply my
agriculture teachers 12 different fruit trees to start an orchard
outside of the school. I was able to raise money by making reusable
bags and picking up soda cans and turning them in at a metal company.
With my passion for helping and volunteering, I gave my time through
service at the Green Bay Wildlife Sanctuary as an animal caretaker.
There I help interns and workers by cleaning all cages, prepping
food, and feeding animals. At college, I am in a club called The
Wildlife Society which gives multiple volunteer and experience
opportunities to club members. There I had an opportunity to
volunteer at the Dane County Humane Society which also doubles as a
wildlife sanctuary. There I helped shovel mulch through their paths
leading back to some of the habitats animals stay in. This helped
prevent the path from being icy or muddy when it rains or snows. We
also cleared out a section of dead trees so the sanctuary can build a
new habitat. I was also able to go around campus with a group of
friends picking up litter off of sidewalks and roads.

Volunteering
has given me a strong passion for helping others and finding help
where it’s most needed. Giving my time being productive to an
organization who needs it gives me joy that I can help even if its a
small task. With my passion for helping those who are in need, I was
able to advance my horizons in volunteering. Any time there is an
opportunity to help or volunteer I never hesitate to make room in my
busy schedule. Having a strong passion for helping people lead me to
find my own passion that I am pursuing in college.
