Driving is a
privilege that can be easily taken advantage of. Driving is dangerous
and is often taken for granted by most, as it becomes a routine.
Statistics show a person will have an accident once every ten years.
The sad part is no driver is safe, the best driver’s can get into
accidents due to other driver’s errors. In the last few decades
with the improvements in roads and cars, the accident rate should be
decreasing but rather it is increasing rapidly. The leading cause of
teenage death is car accidents. The term accidents is contradictory
in the fact that collisions are not accidents. Collisions are the
results of negligence from drivers. Drivers ed is essential in
the fact that it prepares teens to navigate situations and scenarios.

First and foremost,
crashes are the result of inexperience and knowledge of driving.
Drivers ed provides a backbone for young drivers to gain
knowledge, skills, and experience for vehicle safety. Drivers
education builds confidence in the understanding of driving
techniques, car maintenance, and rules of the road that otherwise
would go unacknowledged or overlooked. Drivers ed recognizes
mistakes, that can result from negligence that others choose to turn
their cheek to.

From experience, my
friends showed little regard to driving rules and regulations.
Teenagers often overlook the dangers of driving and push the limits.
Teenagers disregard rules because they think they are better than
them. Passenger limits are in place not only for the safety of other
drivers but also for personal safety. The risk of collision due to
distraction is severely increased with each additional passenger
aboard the vehicle. Rules are in place for reasons and are only
established to endorse safety. Collision risk is at its highest with
beginning drivers and nothing is worth more than the safety of
others.

To close, to
accomplish safe driving and the true american dream of safe roads,
society must start at the beginning. Drivers ed serves as a
guiding hand towards success for upcoming generations. Teenagers as
well as others need to become aware of the dangers of driving and the
impact it can cause. One second is all it takes to ruin a life and
take a life. People need to stop the act and actually consider the
impact they can have on the world. Drivers ed is a necessity
and a privilege. Driving is the silent killer that is often put out
of the limelight and needs to be acknowledged. Driving is a privilege
not a right. People need to be aware of the dangers driving holds, in
order to prevent unnecessary casualties and rid the society of this
deadly killer.
