Being
Aware of Reckless Drivers

There
are nearly 10 million car accidents each year meaning there are about
27,000 accidents every day! These numbers include all sorts of
vehicle accidents, from fender benders to life takers. But all are
detrimental in some way, whether it’s to your vehicle, body, or
wallet. The cause for many wrecks are just people being unsafe and
reckless with their driving. It really would be easy to avoid wrecks
if EVERYONE was more cautious and careful with their driving.

All
I remember from my crash in the instant it happened was having the
breath knocked out of me and the noise of the truck hitting us, glass
breaking, wheels screeching, airbags deploying, and people screaming
in fear. I remember feeling searing pain as soon as it was over and
being unable to move for a few minutes because the breathe was
knocked out of me and I was in complete shock. It was just another
normal day my sister, my friend, and I were on our way to small group
Sunday after church. None of us were expecting to end up in the
hospital that night, let alone be in a severe crash or any crash at
all. The cause of the crash was not our fault, it was because someone
else was being reckless and not paying attention. We were just
sitting there waiting for the opportunity to make a u turn in a place
where it was perfectly legal and appropriate to do so. The vehicle
behind us did not see us and hit us from behind pushing us out onto
the highway into oncoming traffic. We were pushed right in front of a
huge speeding truck which full on bulldozed us from the passenger
side, where I was seated. The truck hit us and sent us spinning
around so quickly that it hit us again on the same side. In order to
avoid hitting us again the truck swerved over and was bumped by
another vehicle into a fence. The vehicle that hit us from behind
went into the ditch and caused another vehicle to swerve off the road
in order to avoid hitting them.

Luckily
everyone survived the crash, I was the most severely injured and I
came out with bruised ribs, swollen and bruised organs, severe
bruising on my legs and arms, and minor bruising on my face from the
airbags. So no one was severely injured, praise the Lord, but someone
could have been and I know people have been severely injured or died
in similar or worse car wrecks due to reckless drivers. This whole
accident happened because of one reckless driver. Just one person who
was not paying attention. This shows just how one person being so
careless can harm so many people. There was a total of five vehicles
involved in this highway accident! One person caused this to happen
to that many people! You could be that one person if you’re not
careful and cautious with you’re driving.

So,
how can you stop accidents from happening and be more aware of you’re
driving and others around you? Step one, just obey traffic laws!
They’re made to keep us safe. Don’t speed, don’t make illegal
turns, make sure you’re doing simple things like checking your
mirrors, using your blinkers, be watching out for others vehicles.
Step two, be more aware of your surroundings and the drivers around
you. Just because you’re being a safe driver doesn’t mean other
people are. Make sure you’re ready to react safely and properly to
other people driving stupidly. And here’s a HUGE HUGE thing you
never ever do! Do not text and drive!Texting and driving is honestly
a really stupid idea. I mean your eyes are supposed to be on the
road, nothing else when driving.

Well,
I hope that you have realized how important it is to be a safe
driver! Don’t be the person to cause injury to others or death
because you’re being a reckless stupid driver. Be smart, careful, and
cautious with you’re driving. And always be aware of reckless drivers
around you!
