Driver’s
Ed Essay
Being
a good driver and knowing the basic rules of the road is important,
but there are some separate steps that can make you a safe driver.
The best way to be safe on the road is to remove distractions.
Following a few simple steps could possibly save your or someone
else’s life.
The
importance in drivers ed is that teenagers will learn how
to be safe on the road and prevent accidents which can cause death.
The class provides education on not only how to drive, but the
importance of being aware of the road and knowing when not to drive.
Being drowsy while driving will impact your awareness on the road and
it can slow your reaction time. Over six thousand Americans die per
year solely on drowsy driving. Just pulling over to take a nap or
letting someone else drive may save a life.
Some
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths is to take a
driving class no matter what age you are. The law states you can take
the test at age 18, but those people miss out on the safest way to
drive and can cause more deaths. Another way to reduce the number of
deaths is to reduce the distractions in the car whether it’s a
phone or other people. Calls and texts while driving is illegal but
having a conversation even while looking at the road is dangerous.
You cannot focus on what the person on the other end is saying while
looking at your surroundings and they cannot see when you need to
concentrate. When people are in the car, teenagers will increase
their risk by recklessly driving and showing off for their friends
and make bad decisions which can result in death.
Some
steps that can be taken to become a safer driver and to help others
on the road is to always keep your phone out of reach. If you must,
hold your friends phone and you can answer their texts or tell anyone
who calls to talk later. Set up an auto text that asks the caller to
call later when you are done driving. Unless there is an emergency,
there is no real reason your phone can’t wait. Always wear a
seatbelt and don’t let the car leave until everyone is buckled up.
The seatbelt is the best defense in a car crash.
Driver’s
education is a great way to learn the safest way to drive and if you
can follow those steps and make good decisions, being safe on the
road can be quite simple. Remember, driving can harm other people’s
lives based on the decisions you make.
