Perspective
We tend to only hear
sayings about our own personal happiness. “Do what makes you
happy”, ” You only live once”, ” Be the best
version of YOU”. Unfortunately, these statements can come with
substantial costs. The moment you turn sixteen all you can think
about is getting your hands on your driver’s license but do you fully
understand the responsibility that comes with it? I fear that the age
never matters, the responsibility isn’t explored until something
drastic that cannot be shifted takes place.
When driving, we tend to look at other drivers as objects in our way
rather than humans within a vehicle. We can quickly get unsettled
when they drive slow or cut us off. But what if, for once we took a
new perspective on driving? What does that even entail? Having a new
perspective is understanding that the person driving the vehicle next
to you is just as important as yourself. The fact that that
individual has a family who loves them has a community of people who
admire them. By looking at your phone, or cursing at them, or driving
recklessly and putting them in jeopardy, you could potentially be
taking someone’s loved one away.
Rather than waiting
for something drastic to happen how about before you turn that key in
the ignition we settled with the thought that there are people right
now on the road who deserve for me to give my full attention to
driving safely. With this, we can bring a new perspective to the
safety of driving and hopefully reduce the fatal injuries that take
place.
