The
importance of having education on driving can reduce the number
deaths as a result of driving because when an individual understands
the rules on the roads and recognizes their surroundings, it makes
you a defensive driver. You always want to be cautious of everything
around you. Being a good driver with good education knows to not have
any distractions when driving. If every driver limited distractions
and focused on their surroundings, it would limit the number of
deaths from car accidents.
The
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving can be eliminating all distractions from the driver. The
driver needs to put their phone in a different compartment of the car
so they cannot see or touch their phone. Having focus on what’s in
front of you and knowing who’s around you when driving can help
reduce the number of deaths. Many people don’t see who or what is
around them when driving which can cause accidents from just not
knowing ahead of time.
I have experienced being in a car accident where my phone distracted
me. I was driving home from a 4th of July event so it was
super late and I was getting tired. I was on the main road heading
home when I looked down at my phone to call someone but when I looked
up, all I saw was my car hitting a jeep so hard in the back. I didn’t
have time to really break and I hit the car going 55 mph so I managed
to push the car 60 feet in front of me. The jeep was stopped in the
middle of the road letting an elk cross. You never expect anything
like that to happen at that time of night. I didn’t hurt anyone and
I was completely fine but I got a 500-dollar ticket. I had to pay for
the ticket myself. After this incidence happened, I’ve become a
more safe and smart driver. I’ve grown as a person and become a
better driver.
I
can continue to eliminate distractions around me and focus on what is
going on around me. While being in the car with someone who is
driving, I can help by making sure everything looks clear around them
and I can focus on if they are getting distracted or not. Focusing on
the driver and to see if they are looking at their phones is a good
thing because it can eliminate any accident that can happen in the
future.
