Why
do many organizations require you to have volunteer hours? Why do the
except teenagers over the years of fifteen or sixteen? What skills
are gained by volunteering in different places like the hospital, red
cross, library, pharmacy, or even at your church? If I am being
honest I have never volunteered anywhere because I really don’t
know how to sign up. I want to volunteer in the Riverside University
Health System Medical Center but my daily schedule conflicts with it.
Since I want to be a Pediatrician in the future I will need
experience of being in a hospital environment. I hope to start
volunteering next summer because I think I’ll enjoy it and I’ll have
something thing to do during the summer. I also would like to
volunteer at the Public Library and experience what types of help
they need at a library. Also I am looking forward to this because
i’ll make a difference by helping others.

I
am going to volunteer in something in a couple of weeks from know and
i’m excited and scared. It is something to to with my church
organization and will be over the weekend. Their is going to be some
sort of festival at my church in honor of our blessed mother Mary. I
would have to do cleaning, serving food, selling tickets, and help
people who have questions. I have to get volunteer hours done because
one it is required by my church in order for me to get confirmed and
it will look good on my applications when I want to apply to any
Universities or Colleges.

I
have done a little bit of research on ways to help at the Riverside
University Health System Medical Center and I am interested in about
six of the services I could volunteer in. The six include Clinics
(Outpatient), Diagnostic Imaging, Information Services, Materials
Management, Medical Records, and Patient Care Units. I would choose
of these six options because they are most related to what I want to
be and I would have to be doing these things on a daily basis. I also
want to learn more about how it is like to be in these environments
and see if that’s actually what I want to do the rest of my life.
Also having this type of experience will help me when I i’m
studying biology as my major at a University, useful when I’m in
medical school, and when I’m doing my residency because I will have
some knowledge in this area.

Another
place I would like to volunteer in is the Red Cross. I know that in
many hospitals they need blood and it wouldn’t hurt me to donate some
of my blood to people that need it more. Also learning how to get
blood taken out of people would be pretty interesting and work as
knowledge when I’m working with needles in the future. When I grow
older I want to be the type of person to donate blood every single
week in the hospital for those who need it. This will be a great help
and make other people happy that actually need it more than me. I
don’t know what type of blood I have and I kind of hope it’s the most
rarest one so I could help the people that have the rarest type of
blood and don’t have many people that could give them that blood.
