The importance of driving education in reducing the number of deaths is key as it would lessen the likelihood of death by driving. When people are educated on a topic, they are more likely to take the topic seriously and apply what they learned to their everyday lives. In the case of driving, if people were more aware of the fact that more deaths occur as a result of driving than American soldiers that died from war in Iraq and Afghanistan, they would take driving more seriously as those statistics would allow them to see how serious the situation is. This is where education comes in. By people taking driving education courses, they get to learn about how serious driving is and how many people die as a result of it. This will then teach them to take the act of driving more seriously. In addition, by taking driving courses people can learn the proper steps they can take to become safer drivers themselves.

To reduce the number deaths related to driving, numerous steps can be taken. The first step is to make sure that you are ready to drive. You should make sure that your seatbelt is on and that your mirrors are adjusted to allow yourself to see what is around your car at all times. The next step is to make sure that your phone is put away so that it does not distract you while you are driving. If you receive an urgent call while you are driving that you must take, pull over to the side of the road out of the way of traffic so that you can answer it safely. In addition to this, set up a music playlist from your phone prior to driving, so that you don’t have to try and manage one while driving. Another step you can take is planning out your trip and the directions that you need prior to actually driving. Another step to take while driving is to keep your eyes on the road at all times and follow traffic signs.

I have personally never been in a car accident, however, I have heard stories of friends and family members of mine being in one. One that sticks out to me is one where one of my family members was in the car with his brother and friend. He was speeding down a long straight road and forgot about a divider coming up at the end of the long road. He crashed right into it and the car took flight and landed upside down. Thankfully, none of them were injured and they all walked away without any bruises, but it really makes you realize how a fraction of a second can change your life forever. They were lucky to walk away unharmed, but not that many people are as lucky as them. To know that they could have been gone forever due to that split second, weighs heavily on them and on me as well because it just goes to show how careful you need to be when driving because all it takes is one second to change it all.

To be a better and safer driver myself, I can educate myself on safer driving tips and enroll in a driving education course to better understand the safety precautions that I should take to be a safer driver. To help others become safer on the road, I can spread the word about safety tips to my friends and family members and encourage them to share those tips with others as well. Awareness is key to solving any issue as people have to be aware of a problem before they can solve it. By spreading awareness, we can hopefully lessen the amount of deaths by driving significantly, as it is something that we ourselves can control, so we should get control over it.
