The Importance Of Safe Driving

The importance of driver education is to teach us the do’s and don’ts of the road, by learning this, people around the world should know how to treat people on the road. This plays an important factor when it comes to saving others’ lives while driving; by putting your phone down, paying attention to your surroundings, and not eating that burger you’ve been craving all week. Nowadays driver education doesn’t take care of the kids that are coming up, because most of them are driving 100 mph down the road and not taking other people’s lives into consideration when driving.

The steps you can take to help reduce the number of deaths is to first have confidence in your driving. If you are not confident on the road; stay in the passenger’s seat, it’s as simple as that. Many of my friends have gotten into car wrecks the first years they got their license, and have completely totaled their car because they were NOT confident in their driving. Another way to save lives is to be completely aware of your surroundings, I can’t lie, I have eaten while driving, heck, even cut some people off, but I’ve learned from those mistakes because one of them involved the police. Don’t get me wrong some people are complete jerks on the road and love to hog it, but that all ties back into confidence.

I’ve never been in a car accident, knock on wood, but I’ve heard some stories that make my skin crawl. One of my friends “waterboarded” her car and slid and hit someone else in the back. (Waterboarded is when you slide in a puddle while driving) Another friend had lunch with one of her close friends, and when they left, her friend totaled the back of her car on accident and now they are no longer friends, sadly. There was one instance when my mom parked in a cart space at a grocery store and we all were about to get in trouble by some stupid courtesy clerk. I’ve even heard of my parents getting into an accident, but that was before my time. My sister got into a couple of accidents a while back, she was just in places she shouldn’t have.

The steps I can take to become a better driver would be to stop driving! Driving is overrated. Kidding. But tips I would give my future self would be aware of people around me, I personally don’t have anyone that drives with me, but if I didn’t I would make sure their in good hands (no Allstate) and make them feel comfortable when they’re riding with me! There’s really no way to help other people to become good drivers unless you take away their car, other than that, it’s completely useless. I’m not the one to critique other people’s driving because that can get super annoying at times, but I would let them know that if they keep doing that it could lead to an accident, and they should be mindful of others. Other than that, the only person who can keep themselves out of danger is you, be safe!
