Safe Driving Saves Lives

As young teenagers, we all desire to buy our own cars and reach different destinations that will make our mouths drop. With driver education, we learn the basics, benefits and the rules of driving in order to be cautious and keep that knowledge in our minds at all times. Driving safely leads to less deaths and more people being able to enjoy the fresh air. The importance of driver education teaches us that distracted driving, drunk-driving, speeding and not using seatbelts are amongst the causes of dangerous car collisions throughout every single year.

Not using our electronic devices, being sober, and always wearing your seatbelts are steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. Also, pulling into traffic slowly, keeping at least one hand on the steering wheel, not tailgating, and watching for pedestrians crossing at intersections are other ways to avoid car accidents. Following these concepts will make driving a better experience for all drivers at all ages. It is the drivers’ responsibility to drive calmly and cautiously with passengers in the car in order to not cause any harm. Drivers should be able to control their vehicle and always keep their eyes on the road.

I have experienced one of my parents driving irresponsibly while I was in the passenger seat and my other sibling was in the back seat. I clearly remember that we were on our way to our cousins’ house which was 15 minutes away. It was a rainy day and the road was wet. Weather could also cause car accidents, too. Back to what I was saying, my mom was driving while also using her phone to make a call. I told my mom to stop looking at the phone and put your 100 percent attention on the road. I didn’t want to crash or else our lives would be in peril. I took her phone away in order for her to listen and drive safely. Our phones are devices that have taken control of our daily lives and we can’t do anything about it. As a driver myself, I would check all my mirrors, make sure that I have gas, and check if my car doesn’t have any issues occurring. Paying close attention to signs and warnings are essential in being a better and safer driver.
