In the Driver’s Seat
A drivers education and experience behind the wheel undoubtedly is the most crucial aspect of driving safety! As a licensed driver, knowledge of the fundamentals of driving from point “A” to point “B” just isn’t enough to be safe. Practical knowledge in addition to fundamental knowledge is necessary for every driver. Every scenario/situation along with a followed through procedure, must be executed properly but simultaneously with these two categories. A concrete understanding of these safe driving practices will reduce a substantial amount of vehicular deaths due the many instances of unorderly driving. A safe method that can be implemented by any driver is patience in difficult scenarios. Once implemented, as a driver is in a rush to commute to work or late for an event, the skill of patience if used will ensure that there is no reckless driving or bypassing of road signs/signals. Furthermore, I feel that this is an underrated and overlooked practice of a safe driver.
Personally I have not been in a vehicular accident in the span of time that I have been driving/commuting to my job or life events. However, many close friends and family members of mine have been in vehicular incidents, injured across many different degrees, but have not lost their lives to such accidents. As a passenger, I have been in a few situations where the driver of the vehicle I am in has expressed wreckless tendencies. These tendencies can be described as running red lights, speeding through residential areas/school zones, and also acknowledging other drivers with an immense amount of aggression which few times have led to altercations. My own safety in the hands of these drivers across these many instances I did my part to recommend for mine along with their safety to implement a more relaxed and patient approach to their driving habits.
Throughout my own driving endeavors I will consistently implement the skill of patience. Along with this crucial practice, I will continue to obey speed limits of particular areas and street signals/signs. Additionally, I as a driver or a passenger will implement/recommend the necessity of attentiveness along with the two categories of driving knowledge I expressed earlier. These mental and physical practices will ensure that me and any other vehicle owner is the safest that we can be, and just as important, all the other individuals such as pedestrians or individuals that will be sharing the road with us.
