5 ways to not die from things related to driving
Deaths from driving are always increasing as more and more people seem to become distracted while driving, so it is very important to learn about the different ways to avoid this to happen. Once you master these 5 skills you will use while driving, it’ll be very unlikely to get into another crash. As someone who has been in an accident before, I can tell you that there was a lot of things to learn about the experience.
One of the main reasons for getting into a crash is when someone is driving under the influence. This includes smoking, drinking, or on some sort of drugs. I’ve seen so many people do this and get into a crash, and the stupidest reason they give is that it’s their fault… like NO IT’S YOUR FAULT! There is no reason to be driving under the influence, especially now. You can ask friends to drive you home, get an uber home, or at least wait until you feel sober to drive again.
Also another major thing that people don’t pay attention to but is crucial when driving is paying attention to the signs, lights, and what other vehicles are doing. Not knowing your surroundings can lead to a bad accident, so make sure that your attention is always towards the road, or the lane you’re going to switch to. By being attentive to your surroundings increases your chance to be able to react in time, there is no way of telling when a different car is going to run a red light or crash into you from behind so make sure to slow down your movements so the other person can catch on also, just in case they aren’t paying very much attention as you are. This also means to not touch your phone when driving since it will be a massive distraction. Driving is your number 1 priority when in a car.
Make sure you’re using signals so that other drivers know what you are doing, If you are communicating that you are backing up or turning to a different lane, chances are, they’ll let you go through. Also giving them time to process what’s happening is a very good idea to avoid a crash so make sure when you are signaling that you are doing it 5 seconds before you are going to do what your going to do.
When you’re driving, try to stay around the speed limit. That speed limit is for your safety and the safety of others. Going over that speed limit too much increases the chance of you getting in a crash since people around you will be going at a slower speed than you. Speed of an incoming car can determine if someone is fatally injured or if it was less serious injury, so going at least 5 mph around the speed limit should be your goal every time you drive.
Say that you are in a car accident, don’t become emotional and explode, instead take a deep breath, try to get to safety, and access the situation. Doing this will help conflict decrease, so that there won’t be any more injuries. This also helps when figuring out how the crash happened as you will have to explain to police what has happened and they will judge who is in the wrong. Would you rather listen to someone reasonable or someone who is screaming in your face?
