Driving Dangers and How to Prevent Them
Driving, in it of itself, is already a dangerous thing to do. People do not think much of it, but anything can happen while driving. Even though there are multiple rules for drivers as well as precautions for accidents, it does not stop human error. But that does not stop people from going about their day and driving to their destinations. The reason for this is that we can reduce dangerous driving habits, particularly in teenagers.
It is almost a rite of passage for a sixteen-year-old to pass their driver’s test and get on the road. But having more inexperienced drivers on the road brings on more dangers. Many might think that it is just a game and not take their safety, as well as the safety of others, seriously. That is not a good thing. The road is not the same as “Mario Kart.” It is real life. Teenagers should try to educate themselves more so that they can prevent bad things, such as accidents, from happening while they are driving. Things like knowing the laws and the speed limits can greatly help them build good driving habits, therefore making them better drivers.
Aside from this, teenagers should keep their eyes on the road at all times. No exceptions. Using social media or texting is a one-way ticket to a catastrophe. It might be extreme saying it like this, but it is the reality. There are a lot of teenagers that have been in an accident because they were using their phones. Some have ended dead, others killed themselves and others, others have gotten minor injuries, while some have gotten off with just a small scare. Whatever it might be, teenagers should not run the risk of being caught in an accident. Using a phone while driving just is not worth it.
Personally, I have never experienced being in a car accident or have watched family members recklessly drive. But that does not mean I should not care about potential accidents. I believe there should be steps that prevent these from happening.
To reduce these dangers, teenagers should ignore their phones while they are driving. If they are getting a call or need to do something with their phones, the safest thing to do is connect their phones to the car’s Bluetooth and voice-command whatever they need. But this should only be used either sparingly or in an emergency. Handling their phones, even by voice-command, is still somewhat distracting to the driver because they are multitasking. As always, it is much safer not to interact with the phone in any way.
These are just a couple of ways in which teenagers can reduce dangerous driving habits and prevent accidents from happening. Ignoring their phones and focusing on the road helps any driver be safer, especially teenagers. It is important to know that a simple action might end up saving lives.
