The Importance of Safety Behind the Wheel

Taking a driving course is very important in the way of how to safely drive and follow all of the laws when driving to result in less deaths caused by vehicle accidents. What can be done to reduce deaths by driving is by taking a drivers ed course and physically learning to drive rather than just reading the drivers manual. By taking a course where one practices driving with an instructor, they will get to experience how to practice a safe driving distance, follow the correct speed, and all the correct driving etiquette, and overall be a more confident driver. People who have taken a driving course will be less reckless drivers since they have the experience and practice when taking the course. When one takes a driving course, they will be less likely to have any accidents and be pulled over by a cop. Overall, taking a driving course will reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents.

Car accidents become frequent when people start driving and I have seen a friend who recently started driving get in an accident. Luckily, I wasn’t in the vehicle but maybe if I were with that friend, I could have told them what not to have done to prevent the accident. What happened during the accident was she was crossing over lanes of traffic when turning left and got hit by another car that was coming from the left. She might not have seen the other car or maybe thought she would have been able to make it in time. When I ride with other people I always watch as if I were driving just to make sure that everyone is safe. I might tell the driver to slow down or stop or to stay in the right lane, as I do when my grandpa drives because sometimes, he gets distracted and it could end bad if he doesn’t have those reminders.

There are many things that can be done to become a safer driver. One main thing I see a lot of people do is text and drive or call and drive. This personally scares me, and I could never come to do this myself. How to prevent texting and driving is to tell the person one is texting that they will by driving and can’t talk or have the passenger in the car text for them. One thing that I do so I’m not even tempted to look at my phone while driving is to put it in the center console and put it on silent, so it won’t distract me. Another big thing is that people drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. To prevent this, one could just simply stay where they are and not even drive or have someone pick them up and bring them home or to where they need to go. Distracted driving and driving under the influence are some of the top causes in fatal accidents, which need education on and prevented.
