Safe Driving
As teenagers, it is very easy to have a careless outlook on many things in life. It is especially common for teens to fail to anticipate the consequences of their actions. An example of this type of behavior is evidenced in teens’ attitudes toward Drivers Ed. Most think of Drivers Ed as a roadblock that is in the way of them receiving their drivers license. Because of this, a large majority of teens do not take Drivers Ed seriously and try to just blow past it without actually learning any of the material. What they fail to realize is that Drivers Ed is very important and has the potential to reduce the number of deaths due to driving. Drivers Ed offers all of the driving information that one needs in order to be a safe and responsible driver; which ultimately can reduce the number of deaths due to accidents.
There are many ways in which one can reduce the risk of death related to driving. Your car must be in good condition in order to be safe on the road. This means that the car’s tires are properly inflated, the brakes are in good working condition, and the windows and mirrors are clean so that you can see the road. Another surefire way to be a safe driver is to take Drivers Ed seriously and make sure to retain the information and be able to use it on the road. There is one big thing that should be avoided when driving; and that is texting. When driving, there should be zero distractions so that one can focus solely on the road. Also, if one has been drinking alcoholic beverages, they should not be driving. Drunk driving accounts for a large number of deaths related to driving. If one follows these simple, yet important steps then they will reduce the number of deaths related to driving. Car accidents are a serious matter which is why driving should be taken seriously. I have never been in a car accident, however, I have seen some family members driving irresponsibly a few times. There are a few instances in which I see a family member texting while stopped at a red light. This is not as dangerous as texting while the vehicle is in motion, however, it should still be avoided.
The steps that I can take in becoming a safer driver is to know all the information on driving and be able to use it while driving. I can also remember to have zero distractions while driving and focus solely on the road. Additionally, I can observe how others drive and learn from their mistakes. I also need to educate others on how to be a safe driver and that can be done by educating them on the steps to becoming a safer driver. Also, I can encourage my friends to take Drivers Ed seriously and to not drive under the influence. There are far too many deaths related to driving. If one follows the simple steps to becoming a safe driver, the risk of death related to driving will be reduced greatly.
