Drivers Education is your superpower!
The privilege of driving brings great responsibility. You are not only responsible for your life, but everyone else’s. Driving can be very dangerous when people don’t follow safety precautions. Taking the driver’s education course, wearing a seat belt, and being attentive are ways we can reduce risk.
Most people don’t realize how much damage irresponsible driving can cause. In the United States about 6,500 accidents happen a day, with an average of 100 being fatal. With that many, you or one of your friends could be put in that situation every time you get on the road. We must figure out a way to reduce that number.
The first step to fixing the irresponsible driving problem is identifying it. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that approximately 50 percent of wrecks that were fatal were caused by people not wearing seat belts. NHTSA also stated that 30 percent of traffic accidents with fatalities were caused by speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol. An additional 10 percent were due to distracted driving.
Many people have contributed to making driving less of a risk. These include designing the seatbelt, engineering a self-braking system, and creating the Drivers Education Course. Depending on your location, you can take the driver’s education course as early as 15 years old. Drivers education teaches young drivers the rules of the road and gives them the confidence and skills to drive safely to their destination. Studies have shown that completing a driver’s education course reduces traffic violations, injury causing accidents, and fatalities. Make Drivers Education your superpower!
Resources are available for safer driving; people just need to use them. Every driver must take responsibility for their behavior, be aware of the risk, and take actions to decrease it. Driving is a good experience, when safety makes an appearance!
