Driver Education Initiative Award

The importance of drivers education allows young drivers to fully comprehend the rules and regulations of safe driving. Students are able to retain and focus more when they are able to be in the presence of a certified instructor. Adults and teenagers are gaining confidence when it comes time to take the real test because they will have already gotten a glimpse of what to expect. With that being said students are able to recognize how easily distracted it can be when driving on the road. Distracted driving includes talking and texting while driving, eating, putting on make-up, and PDA. A step to reduce the number of deaths while driving would have to be advancing cars’ technology by adding sensors or cameras to more vehicles so people are aware of other vehicles or pedestrians around them.In addition, another step would be to add more check points and set curfews to reduce the number of people driving under the influence. I have experienced a car accident due to an irresponsible driver running a red light since she was on her phone. Thankfully, the only injury I suffered was a concussion and a few scratches, however, my car was deemed totaled and undrivable. In order to become a better and safer driver I need to learn to be patient when I’m on the road. As well as be mindful of the distance I should be leaving between me and other cars. Overall in order to help others become safer on the road would be to set an example for the younger drivers that are just starting off.
