What is the importance of driver education in reducing the number deaths because of driving?

Driver education is important in the sense that it create awareness in drivers about the possible cause of accidents that leads to high number of deaths. Many people migrants to the U.S every year from different country around the globe and some come with their international driver’s license. So, upon their arrival in the United States of America they buy cars and start driving. This are the drivers that needs to go through driver education to be taught about the road rules and regulation in the U.S. because each country has its own road system and regulation that may be different to that of other countries. Therefore, driver education is important, and it must be implemented and enforced on drivers.

What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?

I thing the Police especially the Department of high-way Patroller must come up with the initiatives to design a device that can be plugged on every new driver’s car for about a year upon receiving their driving license, to detect the speed/balance control and give the signal to the nearest Traffic officials if there anything wrong. This will help new drivers to try and perfect their driving skills, because most new drivers has the tendency of over-speeding which sometimes leads to accidents. Those found guilty of over-speeding and reckless driving must be given an appropriate punishment and referred to the driver education before allowed to drive again.

Have you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?

Yes, I was driving on the gravel road and my car had an old tire. Then the right front tire got busted and the car went off the road and hit against the poles of the farm’s fence. I was with my sister but none of us sustained an injury. It was my fault because we were late to our brother’s weeding and I was driving 80 KM/H instead of driving 60KM/H, which is the speed limit on a gravel road in Namibia.

What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?

As drivers we must be time conscience and driver a bit ahead of time. This will help us as drivers get where we want to go on time without rushing or over-speeding. Secondly, cars maintenance is very important (replacing old parts with new ones as quick as possible whenever detected) to avoid unnecessary failure or defect. We must be law and road rules abidance. All drivers must avoid driving on a public road while under the influence of alcohol or other toxicities substances, to avoid endangering other road users. Lastly, as a driver/road user you must be free and willingly report any reckless driving by other driver to the traffic official, this will help the nation in compacting of crimes like capable homicides, and malicious damage to properties that are mostly caused by car accidents.
