Driving Education and Safety
Knowledge of safe driving and awareness of your life and others represents something everyone should take heed to. Certainly, the importance of safe driving within reducing the deaths of the road would be patient. Patient is a virtue and should be the number one thought and idea before driving in a car. There are going to many other people on the road and you have to be aware and rebuke road rage and the faults of traffic. Simply take time to revise daily tasks. Remind yourself and do things that will benefit you in getting to your destination like: don’t drink and drive, pull over if something feels off, wake up earlier, pray before a car ride, put your phone on do not disturb and many more simple tips for driving. These tips can make a big difference on the road and in your everyday life. Unfortunately, my experience with a family member in a car accident was a tragic one. The story is still not quite clear to this day but I lost my cousin and younger cousin in a car accident. She was believed to be aruring with her partner and got in the car and began to drive. My older cousin and her newborn baby were injected out of the front window. The funeral was highly sad and even made me nervous to drive and to always put my seatbelt on. I remember the casket very vividly with my cousin holding her newborn child in the casket. Driving angry, sad, tired, intoxicated, and many more situations is unacceptable because you forget about the safety of yourself and others. This tragic death taught me to always have my seatbelt on and to never drive angry because it’s too much of a distraction and can lead to fatal stories like the one presented. The lives of the road matter. Driver safety is very simple yet people are indifferent towards it and forget about the lives of others and even themselves because of careless mistakes. Steps that can be taken to be a better driver would be to simply put the phones down and focus on getting to your destination by the grace of God. Indeed, checking your phone for a quick second may seem okay, but not when it leads to a fatal accident because of the lack of thinking or indifference. Another step to reduce the number of deaths related to driving would be an intoxication and seat belt sensor. I believe that all cars should have some type of screening or physical breathalyzer installed in cars to determine if one is drunk and if they are the car won’t start and will start after a certain period of time. We already have seat belt sensors, but I believe that the car shouldn’t start without your seatbelt being on to create a norm of safe driving. Let’s make a change and keep our lives and the lives of others safe and stay educated on safety of the road.
