The Importance of Driver’s Education to Stay Safe
Driver’s Education is important to reduce the number of deaths that result from driving because it teaches future drivers what they should and should not do behind the wheel. Driver’s Education provides useful examples of situations that could lead to serious harm or even death. In Driver’s Ed you not only learn about how to keep yourself safe on the road, but you learn the importance of driving appropriately to keep other road users safe as well. To reduce the number of deaths related to driving, all potential drivers should have taken driver’s education first, then after passing Driver’s Ed, students should start to slowly practice driving behind the wheel with adults in the vehicle. A large number of driving related deaths are due to the driver’s not knowing how to drive properly. A deadly accident can occur if a person is speeding, driving drunk, going through a red light, or ignoring weather conditions. To stay safe on the road and prevent death, drivers should have at least a year worth of practice behind the wheel, and they must be aware of all things right and wrong when driving. No driver should ever get behind the wheel while intoxicated, even if they only had one drink. I’ve been in the passenger seat of my brother’s vehicle while he was driving recklessly. One day he was driving me home from school, and instead of slowing down when he saw a semi-truck turning in front of us, he decided to try and get past the truck before the driver could turn. I will always remember that day because we were so close to running into that truck, and I was so scared that my heart skipped a beat. I was so sure that we were going to hit the truck that I closed my eyes in an attempt to brace myself for what I knew was destined to happen. My brother was lucky to have slammed on the brakes in time to avoid crashing into the large truck at full speed. When I get my driver’s license, I will be sure to avoid speeding, not letting drivers take their right of way, showing off in front of friends, and I will never drive intoxicated. To help others like my brother become better drivers and be safer on the road, I will be sure to remind people of the unlimited amount of dangers that come with reckless driving and how fast car accidents happen. I will explain to them the possibility of either severely injuring or killing themselves and other drivers. There have been many innocent victims who lost their lives due to reckless driving. I want to remind people of the ones who were simply looking to go home, yet ended up in a hospital or dead due to poor driving. I need them to see how easy it is to end or place an extensive pause on someone else’s life in just a few seconds.
