Learn How To Steer Yourself On The Road

Learn How To Steer Yourself On The Road

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths from driving is vital. Future drivers should know the rules of the road, how to read signs, read signals, and know how to keep calm when you get into an altercation. Not only has there been deaths from car crashes there has been crashes and altercations that lead to deaths, due to road rage. Road rage is the leading factor in accidents and deaths. The driving education should be modified to help people acknowledge when they get angry on the road and how to stop it or prevent it. There are also studies done that specificall teenagers who take driving education classes are less likely to crash or receive a traffic ticket. This is vital to know and understand, considering that teenagers have the highest rate to be in a fatal crash compared to other age groups. Young adults should be educated on driving to prevent accidents and losing there life at an early age.

Some steps that could be taken are basic, but not told enough to young drivers or new drivers. Some steps include learning all your road rules and know how to read road signs, and to always drive with someone who has driving experience that you feel comfortable with when learning how to drive. One should always avoid any type of distractions, so have there phone off or on silent mode the whole time. Turn down music because sometimes it could be a major distraction when one is trying to concentrate. Another step could be that teenagers when approachin the age of getting there driving permit or license, should be mandated to take a driving education class to help guide them. Another thing that could be mandated for teenagers is tot have a seminar on drinking and driving so they understand that is a serious topic and they need ot understand what the consequences could be. The last step I believe could help reduce deaths from driving could be to develop methods to avoid road rage like to plan ahead of time, know how to clam yourself, let the other driver go and to do not engage.

I have thankfully never had to experience being in a car accident. Multiple people in my life have been in involved in accidents, and I am so thankful nothing happened to them and they got to come home. Not many people get to have that experience, which is why I care about driving responsibly. When I was younger I would be in the backseat and my father in the front seat without a seat belt and on the phone. I used to be terrified of getting into a car crash and losing him so one day I decided to unbuckle myself and announce to him that I did. He got extremely angry and pulled over immediatly and he told me why I thought that was okay to do. He would give me a speech and tell me that we could get in a car crash and I could get hurt, and I told him “Daddy, well I saw you didn’t have a seatbelt on so I didn’t want to have my seatbelt on either!” He realized that whatever I saw I copied, and he didn’t want that example to be the one I followed, so ever since that day I have never seen my dad without his seatbelt or on his phone. I’m so happy that he saw what he was showing me and how harmful it could be when I grew up and was learning how to drive so he changed.

Some steps I will be taking to be a better and safer driver is to learn how to better cam myself when people cut me off on the road. I am guilty of getting extremely angry when people cut me off, or driving too slow, or too fast, or too close. Sometimes it is usually because I am running late and already in a bad mood. Now acknowledging that, I do get angry when driving when I am late so I will plan better. I will plan to leave my house earlier to prevent it and learn how to calm myslef when I am in that situation. Besides from that I have not been a car accident or received a traffic ticket. I know my rules and I stay completely focused because being in a car crash is a huge fear of mine that I do my best to prevent! I will be helping others by telling them whenever I see they get angry when driving and I am with them, I will attempt to calm them down. I also do not get into my friends cars when I know they dont have any form of license or driving permit or knwo very little road rules. I refuse to enter there car unless I am the one driving because I don’t want anything to happen to us or anybody else on the road. I do my best when I am with someone who is driving and gets confused, I calmly instruct them to pull over so we can figure it out before we continue driving. I do whatever I can to help people because driving is a huge responsibility.
