The Impacts of Practicing Safe Driving
Educating drivers on safe driving habits and practices is overwhelmingly beneficial to the entire population of drivers and all other people being driven. This is due to the fact that without being educated on safe driving, people can make mistakes that are drastic and can cause car accidents and even deaths. Therefore, if driving education is encouraged and sponsored everywhere, people will be taught the correct ways to drive which will then protect everyone on the roads. When people are informed on the implications of being a driver, they are less likely to make mistakes, which in turn will lessen the amount of deaths caused by car accidents. The steps that need to be taken to reduce driving-related deaths include funding driver’s education classes in schools and also make them available for anyone wanting to receive a driver’s license. Additionally, taking a driving education class should be required in order to get a license, and there should be follow up exams to ensure people retain the important safety practices they initially learned.
While I personally have never been in a car accident, my mother has, and she has instilled in me the importance of knowing the rules of the road because she experienced first-hand what happens when people are uninformed. She was hit on her side of the car by someone on a motorcycle that was driving over double the speed limit. This caused immense damage to her car and his motorcycle, and it was also a very scary experience for her. Due to this, she made sure I was taught all of the rules of driving and that I know how dangerous it is to speed. She spent time teaching me all of the main rules of driving and also the less-known rules that more people need to learn. Then when she was confident I was prepared to drive safely, she allowed me to take the driver’s test and I passed with flying colors. However, I am not a perfect driver by any means. To improve my driving skills, I believe I should take a driver’s education course to brush up on the rule and make sure I have learned everything there is to know about driving. I need to remember to never get distracted on the road and to make driving and protecting myself and others on the road my main priority. In addition, I need to be proactive in helping others become safer drivers by correcting my families and friends when they make driving mistakes and help them learn what to do if they find themselves in that situation again. Overall, it is important that I myself stay informed on safe driving practices, and it is also very beneficial if everyone is encouraged to take driver’s education courses to learn the rules of driving which in turn will keep everyone safe on the roads. Without driver’s education classes, too many people will be misinformed on the rules of the road, which can cause dire mistakes to occur.
