Safe Driving Saves Lives

The importance of driver’s education can mean the difference between life and death. Having a community of drivers who are educated in driving safety could and can reduce the number of fatal car accidents that occur every year. Careful screening of newly licensed drivers could reduce the number of deaths related to driving, especially with those with a history of DUI’s, or drinking/drug related crimes. This could remove potential unsafe drivers from the road. I also believe that repeat offenders that have been at fault for multiple car accidents should be held seriously responsible, not just with fines, but with license suspension as well. I have never been in a car accident before. Thankfully, nobody in my family has ever experienced any serious car accidents. I do have a couple friends who have been in serious car accidents, one of them still experiences chronic pain from her injuries that she got from the accident. Seeing her in pain is a reminder for me of how serious car accidents are. Steps I can take to become a safer driver is too always remember that no text is worth it. I can also help others become safer on the road by encouraging my friends and family to not text and drive. I can also keep others on the road safe by being the designated driver for others if they drink. As someone who works at a restaurant, I can call police if I notice an intoxicated guest attempt to drive their car. In sum, education in driving safety can reduce the amount of fatal car injuries. Educating future and current drivers on the seriousness of driving safety is the difference between life and death.
